The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the commencement of the 2024 November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. This year’s exam will adopt a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format and is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Candidates also have the option to choose the traditional paper-and-pen mode for the exam, allowing flexibility in the examination process. This hybrid approach is designed to accommodate various preferences among candidates.
WAEC has extended the registration deadline to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, giving prospective candidates additional time to complete their registration. According to a statement released by WAEC spokesperson Adesina Fadekemi, the exam period will run through to December 20, 2024.
Key Examination Features:
- Hybrid Mode: The exam will combine CBT for multiple-choice questions, where candidates will answer directly on-screen, while essay and practical questions will also be displayed on-screen, but responses will be written in provided answer booklets.
- Walk-in Candidate Option: Candidates who are unable to register within the stipulated time can still take advantage of the “Walk-in-Candidate” option. This option allows candidates to register 24 hours before the specific paper they wish to take.
Candidates are encouraged to register promptly and prepare adequately for the upcoming exams, making use of the extended registration window if needed.
