The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is seeking a talented Junior Professional Officer to join their team as an Associate External Relations Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting UNHCR’s mission of protecting refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, and stateless people.
What You Will Do:
- Become a Champion for Refugees: You will play a key role in crafting and implementing communication strategies that raise awareness and support for UNHCR’s critical work. This includes developing engaging content for social media, drafting press releases, and facilitating media relations.
- Bridge the Gap: You will act as a vital link between UNHCR and external partners, including governments, donors, NGOs, and the private sector. This involves organizing briefings and meetings, responding to inquiries, and advocating for increased funding to support UNHCR’s programs.
- Stay Informed, Stay Engaged: You will keep abreast of current events related to forced displacement and humanitarian operations. This knowledge will be instrumental in developing effective communication strategies and ensuring UNHCR’s message resonates with all stakeholders.
- A Team Player: You will collaborate with colleagues across different departments to ensure seamless information flow within UNHCR and effectively represent the organization in inter-agency initiatives.

Qualifications:
- A university degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, International Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, depending on your level of education (experience in humanitarian operations is a plus).
- Excellent knowledge of current affairs related to forced displacement and humanitarian issues.
- Fluency in English is required. Additional languages are an asset.
