The ISTernship Fellowship at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) is back for its 2025 intake, offering a unique research opportunity for students and recent graduates from around the world. Since its inception in 2013, this renowned program has provided participants with hands-on research experience at one of the world’s leading interdisciplinary institutions. Spanning 2 to 3 months, the ISTernship allows individuals to work closely with top-tier scientists in a dynamic research environment.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in applying for the ISTernship should meet the following requirements:
- Education Level
- Current students enrolled in a bachelor’s program (minimum completion of the second year).
- Current students enrolled in a master’s program.
- Recent graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree, awarded on or after May 15, 2024.
- Academic Standing
- Applicants should be in good standing at a degree-granting institution.
- PhD students are not eligible.
- Students currently enrolled in Russian institutions are not eligible due to program restrictions.
- English Proficiency
- English language skills are assessed through application materials; no formal English tests are required.
Application Requirements
To apply, candidates must prepare the following documents:
- CV/Resume: Outlining academic and professional experience.
- Statement of Purpose: A personal statement describing your research interests and goals.
- References: Contact details for 1-2 referees.
- Academic Transcripts and Diplomas: Original documents, with translations into English (unofficial translations are accepted).
- Host Professor Preferences: Names of 1-2 professors you’d like to work with during the internship.
